I have an '84 Honda Sabre with the same type of motor. It could be several things wrong with it, or just one. I need more info before I can offer much help--does it act up as soon as he tries to crank it after sitting all night, or does it fire up OK, but then after a few seconds it won't idle and dies. I need more info--any smoke from the pipes when it's doing this (either black or white smoke), does it make any funny noises? Does it sound like it's backfiring, either through the pipes or through the carbs? The more you tell me, the more I may be able to help.
